Today was my first chase with the TWISTEX project. We targeted deep in the jungles of SE OK, with the hope that a supercell would skirt just south of the Quachita Mountains. Instead, the southern storm tracked across the rugged terrain, making for a very challenging chase.

Hazy view of supercell updraft from clear cut area just west of US 259, roughly 10 miles N of Broken Bow, OK. This storm had a history of tornadoes in the remote areas to our NW, so we had to sit and wait for its arrival.
