Roger and I began the day in Norman, leaving by ~10 am for our initiation target area in SE KS. The forecast area worked well, but storms developed about an hour sooner than expected. This left us in catch up mode the entire afternoon, and we never could turn the corner on what became the Sedalio, MO - Springfield, IL tornadic supercell. Later in the chase, new storms formed in eastern KS and raced by us at 50-60 mph along the KS/MO border. The storm that moved to our NW went on to produce tornadoes in MO after dark. Our chase ended with a core transect in NE OK that included several close CGs and 1/2" hail, and 60 miles of smoke from the massive TX Panhandle fire (a tragic part of this day that may be somewhat overlooked).

After a mid afternoon lull, we targeted developing convection in eastern KS. The next several images were taken in the vicinity of Pleasanton, KS (Linn Co.).
